Other Gay Youth Groups in the Vancouver Region

Surrey Youth Alliance webspace sponsored by:

What's a youth group without the people to make it all happen? All Four of our adult volunteers are responsible for keeping SYA
open. These fine volunteers have been there for our
youth through thick and thin, always there to offer advice or lend an ear.
They provide the youth with a valuable resource through their knowledge and
experience, and without them, Youth Alliance wouldn't be half as much fun as
it is.

Bruce
Bruce started volunteering with us in December of 2004, while he was the
Vice-President for Out In Surrey Rainbow Cultural Society. He's a great
listener, and has a great sense of humor. He always makes sure that the
meetings get organized, food is available, sign-in sheets are out, and
is *always* the first one at the coffee-maker. When not hanging out with
the youth, Bruce and his partner run Imagine Graphics, a printing
company, in Yaletown.

Robert
Robert has been volunteering with youth-related organizations since the
early-mid 80's, working with the Vancouver Gay Community Center (which
has now become The Center) and 'Search', a crisis and info phone service
which also held a youth drop-in, and more recently with YouthQuest!
Surrey. He was also the first board member of OISRCS to become a
volunteer. In real-life, he works as a travel agent for All Points
Travel in South Surrey.

Volunteer:
TrishTrish has a son who's been a part of the Surrey Youth
Alliance since 2005. She recently started volunteering at our youth drop in.
Being a housewife and mother of two teenage sons, she has a great ability to
understand a variety of challenges that youth face. She's more than willing to
help in whatever way is needed.

Youth Volunteer-Ash
"Ash
has been working with queer youth since the age of sixteen when
she came on as a volunteer at Youthquest! and later began to work
for the organization. As time passed she found SYA and joined as a
volunteer and now vice president. A full-time guitar teacher and
professional musician, she tries to find inspiration in many
things, but youth in general is something she’s always been
passionate about contributing time and energy to. "
